GEORG BASELITZ*

Crippled child
you come upside down
lowered with a piece of thread
“What do you want?”

“I’ve come to take the place of your child
your only child”

it answers opening and closing its mouth
without being heard
its mouth
never formed

unsightly face
yellow and discharging pus
black angles
and white surfaces

rust and pink
its spiral eyes
approach and withdraw
in our pitch-blackness

Crippled child forgive me
I ask it of you
as one existent

Σακάτικο παιδί
έρχεσαι ανάποδα
σε κατεβάζουν με κλωστή
«Τι θέλεις;»

«Ήρθα να πάρω τη θέση του παιδιού σου
του μόνου σου παιδιού»
μου απαντά ανοιγοκλείνοντας το στόμα του
χωρίς να ακούγεται
το στόμα του
που σχεδόν δεν υπάρχει
Παραμορφωμένο το πρόσωπο
με κίτρινο και πύο
γωνίες μαύρες
και άσπρες επιφάνειες
σκουριά και ροζ
σπιράλ τα μάτια Του
πλησιάζουν και απομακρύνονται
στα μαύρα μας σκοτάδια

Σακάτικο παιδί συγχώρεσε με
σου το ζητώ
ως κάτι το υπαρκτό
